Day of Absence

Negro Ensemble founder/ vet Douglas Turner Ward is one of my favorite American playwrights. I'm particularly fond of his absurdist comedy Day of Absence, which takes a biting look at what life in America would be like if one day all the blacks vanished. I've been thinking about that play a lot lately as I've listened to a lot of white Democrats moan about how the racism is flowing backwards in the Shelby County Democratic party.
